Each agency gives you one free credit report per year. You can get yours by ordering online, by mail, or request one over the phone. Or you can order them all at once with the “Annual credit Report Request Form”
Annual Credit Report Request Form
The form is available on http;//ftc.gov/credit and www.annualcreditreport.com, or by mail at Annual Credit Report Request service , P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta GA 30348-5281. There number is toll-free 877-322-8228
If you decide to mail the form and filling it out by your own hand writing, be sure that the form includes everything and is not missing one thing. if you do not like to give out your personal info like social security number, date of birth, etc, then you must know they will not honor your request. Do not be alarmed because you are requesting your info that they already have, they have to make sure it is you.
If you decide to go online to the annual credit report site then it will guide you through each of the three individual sites. simple go to www.annualcreditreport.com and select your state. Fill in your personal information and click the boxes of all the agencies you want a copy of you report from. A quick security note: While you are on these websites they may ask you to create an account and profile. Enter your user name and password, and they may ask about a security question. Make sure you write this stuff down and secure it in a private place. In order to proceed online the website will try to verify your identity and may ask about loans, bank account, former addresses…. Be prepared to answer these questions as they take fraud serious and want to make sure it is you and not somebody trying to obtain your info. If you are successfully identified them your credit report pops up.
