Calls About Another Person

Often bill collectors call a customers relatives or neighbors knowing this is not the actual debtor. They may even go as far as convincing the person they may need to pay or help pay this debt. This happens to parents and spouse more often than not, but it has also happened to strangers, or if you happen to have the same name as the actual debtor. No one should have to pay some one else’s debt, or even tricked into doing so.

If you are having this problem, or believe a bill collector is calling you about another debt, send them this letter template.

Sometimes a debt collector will harass you about a person’s debt who once had your address or phone number. Use this letter to stop the phone calls

Don’t think this is serious? i have seen bill collectors who were having a bad day, take it out on neighbors, co-workers, etc…Hoping to piss someone off enough so word gets back to you, and you call back. often wanting to just make them go away, so you end up paying the debt in a bullied manor.
